PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Rare earths miner Lynas on Tuesday said that operations at its plant in Malaysia would continue to remain suspended after the Malaysian government extended its Movement Control Order from March 31 to April 14.

Lynas told shareholders that the company was continuously assessing the effects of the shutdown on the essential supply chains to which the company contributed.

At the time of the shutdown, the company noted that it had retained some work-in-progress inventory that would allow the plant to restart quickly.

“At all times during the period the Lynas Malaysia plant is in care and maintenance, and after the Lynas Malaysia plant resumes production, our number one priority will continue to be the health and safety of our people and our local communities.

“We will continue to follow all guidelines of the Malaysian government, including the Ministry of Health,” the company added.
