Germany’s KfW donates equipment to South Africa’s public healthcare system

Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla will, on January 25, preside over an official handover ceremony of mobile health clinics, cold chain and information technology equipment from the German Development Bank (KfW) to support efforts by the South African government to strengthen the public health system.

The handover will take place at the Sobantu Community Hall, in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.

The donated assets, valued at R500-million, include specialised vaccine fridges, vaccine carriers, temperature monitoring devices, notebooks, tablets and mobile health clinics.

Phaahla will be joined by the German Ambassador to South Africa Andreas Peschke, Deputy Health Minister Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane, leaders from local government and Department of Health director-general Murray Trust
