JSE-listed steel producer ArcelorMittal South Africa has appointed Gavin Griffiths CFO and executive director from April 1.
Griffiths is currently the company's chief strategy officer but has been serving as interim CFO since July 17, 2023.
He is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a B Comm (Acc, B Acc and M Comm (cum laude)).
Griffiths has more than 25 years of experience in business, which includes experience in management, financial and executive leadership roles spanning a range of financial disciplines, including auditing, financial reporting, controlling, mergers and acquisitions and business optimisation and transformation.
He re-joined ArcelorMittal South Africa in 2018, and had previously worked for the company for 14 years from 1998 to 2012.
"The board of ArcelorMittal South Africa is satisfied that Mr Griffiths has the necessary knowledge of the steel industry and the company, as well as the qualifications, expertise and experience to fulfil the role of CFO effectively.
"The board congratulates Mr Griffiths on his appointment and looks forward to his further contribution to the company in this role," the company says in a statement.
