Engineering, project and construction management firm Zimile Consulting Engineers has appointed Abimbola Sole as MD, which dovetails with the firm’s aspirations to continue to empower young professionals and transform the engineering landscape.

Sole plans to continue growing the organisation through her commitment to training, mentoring and skills transfer, while identifying rising stars who can take on the mantle in the future.

“We are delighted to have Abimbola as one of our key leaders to enhance the culture and drive the growth and success of Zimile. Her experience in the engineering sector spans more than 13 years during which she occupied several key roles, and her experience encompasses a range of industries,” said Zimile Consulting Engineers CEO Shawn Gama.

Sole graduated from the University of Pretoria with a degree in Civil Engineering and continued to pursue her academic career while working. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Engineering Management and Structural Engineering in 2014.

“I realised how infrastructure was not working for so many South Africans. Through Zimile and its determined team, I believe I can make an active difference in shaping the development of infrastructure, especially in the heart of rural South Africa,” she said.

Sole began her career at Zimile in 2018 where she initially took on the role of a technical manager responsible for building services and airports. Over time, her career grew within the organisation into many roles including the business operations manager.

“Having a supportive CEO, management team and staff allows my leadership to flourish naturally, as we continue to strive for the same goals and objectives within the business. I am determined to continue to invest in and enhance the working experience of all of the young professionals at Zimile, all of whom are committed to building a brighter future for South Africa,” she added.
