Manufacturer introduces ‘evolved’ engine oil

As a successor to its TITAN CARGO MAXX 10W40 performance engine oil, lubricant manufacturer FUCHS Lubricants South Africa now offers the TITAN CARGO MAXX II performance engine oil, which also has a viscosity grade of 10W40, as certified by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

TITAN CARGO MAXX II is an “evolved” version of its predecessor, featuring an API CK-4 specification, unlike the API CJ-4 specification of the initial Cargo Maxx engine oil.

API CK-4 is an automotive specification for engine oils compatible for use in high-speed, four-stroke diesel engines, whereas API CJ-4 is applicable to the primary performance category of high-speed, four-stroke diesel engines – both of which adhere to on-highway and Tier 4 nonroad emission standards.

What sets TITAN CARGO MAXX II apart from its predecessor is the fact that it allows for extended drain intervals and increased fuel economy, as well as an upgraded approval matrix.

“Technology dictates evolution in our industry and for FUCHS to remain at the forefront of technology we constantly need to update, upgrade and improve our product range,” claims FUCHS local segment lead Andy Weddell.

TITAN CARGO MAXX II performance engine oil is manufactured using feed-to-liquid (XTL) technology that assists in prolonging the longevity of “modern” engines – modern engine oils are required to labour more extensively than the engine oils used in older engine models.

“XTL technology was globally developed for multiple reasons, primarily relating to the higher tolerances of the modern engine, compared with engines of the past. The oil, in essence, needs to work that much harder,” explains Weddell.

Additionally, the engine oil promotes better wear protection, which, in turn, leads to enhanced equipment life span and increased performance. These improvements, in turn, reduce costs and downtime for business owners with large fleets and commercial transport companies.

Other benefits include a reduction in fuel and oil consumption, which is also likely to be a cost-saving benefit, owing to the longer oil drainage intervals enabled by the oil.

TITAN CARGO MAXX II also has low sulphated ash, phosphorous and sulphur content, which will ensure that fleets and commercial-vehicle industry players – including agriculture and mining vehicles, buses, trucks, light delivery vehicles and other “yellow equipment” – can reduce carbon emissions by keeping their respective exhaust treatment systems clean.

The oil, therefore, enables companies to maintain an optimal fleet with prolonged engine and system life spans while reducing environmental impact and carbon footprint.

“I believe that any major fleet or commercial vehicle owner will hugely benefit from using TITAN CARGO MAXX II 10W40 in their fleet. The benefits of using synthetic engine oils are endless,” he enthuses.
