Focused on supplying engineered solutions and products for the electrification of moveable machinery, including materials handling equipment, cranes and mining equipment, Powermite prides itself on its excellent customer service experience, superior collective technical knowledge and high-quality products and solutions.

Established in the late 1960s, the company offers sub-Saharan Africa with products and solutions that are imported and locally manufactured. Brands include Telefonika, Prysmian, Conductix Wampfler, Ampco, Mennekes, Proof Mining Connectors, Molex, Proconect, EKD Gelenkrohr, Gessmann, Hübner and Stromag. 

Powermite’s product offering comprises flexible industrial and mining cables, as well as specialised reeling cables; conductor and festoon systems for overhead cranes; spring and motor-driven cable reeling drums; industrial plugs and sockets in plastic and metal; flameproof plugs, sockets and connectors; multipole industrial connectors and mil-spec connectors; energy (drag) chains; buffers for cranes; tacho generators; crane controllers; brakes and clutches; pendant controllers; slip-ring assemblies and couplers for motors. 

The Ampco range of industrial plugs and sockets are manufactured in South Africa at Powermite’s manufacturing facility which has the mining and surface certification according to SANS 1239:2004. The company’s products also boast ISO ratings ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Employing 215 people, the Roodepoort-based company is owned by Hudaco Trading and has branches in Pinetown and Richards Bay, both in KwaZulu-Natal; Cape Town, in the Western Cape; Rustenburg, in the North West; and Witbank, in Mpumalanga.
