Company achieves top positions in the latest rankings of internet platform “Wiki Solar” / Expansion of project development activities gains momentum

The Wörrstadt, Germany based, juwi group has achieved a leading global ranking as one of the world's top providers for project development, EPC and O&M services for large-scale free-field solar PV power plants, on renewables website Wiki-Solar, which has been analyzing the market for PV power plants with a capacity of more than four megawatts ("utility scale") for several years.

In Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services, juwi ranks fourth place, making the company the leading European corporation in this segment. Particularly the current juwi projects in South Africa (250 MW) and Vietnam (130 MW) have contributed to this once again excellent placement.

In the area of "Operations & Maintenance services” (O&M), juwi even ranks third – and is also the leading European company here. The largest single juwi project under O&M management is currently a 135-megawatt solar park in India. Juwi is also listed amongst the TOP 25 largest PV project developers. In total, juwi has planned and built nearly 2,000 PV systems of various sizes in more than 25 countries since the company was founded in 1996.The total installed capacity of these projects is around 2,500 megawatt.

"The latest statistics from Wiki Solar demonstrates that we are one of the few German companies to have established itself as a true global player," emphasizes juwi Member of the Board Stephan Hansen. "It also confirms that our activities started on the international solar markets some 20 years ago were an important step."

Prospectively, the company intends to further strengthen its own project development business for utility-scale solar PV power plants. Currently juwi is developing new projects, especially in the US, South Africa, Australia and in selected European markets. A highlight: The upcoming construction of the largest solar park in Greece, where juwi will soon begin preparing the infrastructure for the 200 megawatt Kozani project. Among juwi’s core markets in Europe is also Italy and of the course the German home market. "With this strategy, we will continue working our way up the list of project developers again as well," says Hansen.

Among the most innovative applications of solar PV are the three hybrid power plants in Australia – two at mine sites and one at a research station in the Great Barrier Reef– to whose success juwi greatly contributed. In all projects, the PV power plants are equipped with storage units and are fully integrated into the existing stand-alone grid via an intelligent juwi-developed software - juwi Hybrid IQ. "With our worldwide known DeGrussa project, we have shown what renewable energy solutions can achieve. We strive to build on that,” concludes Hansen.
