Online learning has significantly grown over the past years. With the development of new technologies and the advancement of the internet, being physically present in a classroom or learning station isn‘t the only learning option. People now have the opportunity to gain new skills at their convenience. Online learning has become more centric in people’s lives, and it is slowly revolutionising technical education and training. For this reason, Festo Didactic has implemented two types of online learning, namely; Online Training Webinars and Festo Learning Experience to equip individuals with industry skills that will help them stay ahead of their competition.

Combining online and face-to-face training to offer a great learning experience

As leaders in technical education, Festo Didactic is subject to continuous development to ensure that they always remain on par with the latest technological advancements. As the need for online learning grew, Festo introduced new, advanced online courses that served to help industry professionals continue learning from the safety of their homes. These cost-effective courses attract hundreds of learners from around the world.

“What makes Festo Didactic webinars unique, is the fact that they incorporate a strong practical element,” said Hanness Otto, Head of Didactic Training and Consulting. For example, with our award-winning FluidSIM® software, participants are able to design, build and simulate their pneumatic, hydraulic and PLC systems as well as programs while interacting with the facilitators, he added.  This allows practical knowledge to be applied and experienced on a simulated platform.

Some of these courses serve as an introduction to face-to-face training courses. More importantly, they give participants the opportunity to learn and experience technical training at a fraction of the cost. The online training courses offer immense flexibility; for example, companies with more than one branch can now learn in groups in their respective branches. All they would require is a good internet connection and a smartphone or laptop. The combination of hands-on training and online content allows the full learning potential of participants to unfold optimally. Interested people can visit www.festo.co.za to find courses that will meet their industry needs.

The digital learning portal for individual learning

Festo Learning Experience (LX) was developed to meet the growing demand for more individualisation options in learning. The learning portal provides Didactic learning resources for various technical professions in small nuggets which can be individually assembled into courses and entire learning paths. Varied formats such as videos, animations, simulations, text units or small quizzes ensure that there is no room for boredom. Existing courses can be modified as desired. New content in text, image or video format can be easily added and assigned to the learners - this allows for the individualisation of learning. The trend towards microlearning is also taken into account by the small learning pieces.

Available online, independent of time and place, Festo LX fits in with the information behaviour of today’s generation of trainees who spend a lot of time on smartphones or tablets. The learning portal also proves to be particularly practical in terms of new possibilities in the field of Connected Learning. The search function on Festo LX helps users find suitable learning systems courses that are available online. The learning portal also offers enormous possibilities for the future as it is a continuous process of further development. Interested industrial professionals, institutions and individual can visit www.lx.festo.com to find out how this portal can create a simple and effective learning experience for them.

Festo Didactic is a global leader in technical and vocational education. The product and service portfolio offers customers integrated educational solutions in industrial automation, electrical, mechanical and various other topics. Through these online platforms, they are now able to reach several vocational schools, universities, research centres and industrial companies.
