The 2017 SAAMA conference will be hub for the exchange of innovative ideas around the physical asset management

The Southern African Asset Management Association (SAAMA) is gearing up to host the 4th annual physical asset management conference from 5 to 7 June 2017 at the Lord Charles Hotel, Somerset West, Cape Town. The conference will focus on asset management as a holistic, systematic, dynamic and integrated process that allows the optimised return on investment.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to, yet again, gather some of the physical asset management industry's most respected individuals from a wide variety of organisations public and private companies," said Johannes Coetzee, SAAMA President. "We expect the number of attendees to continue increase as it has done since the first event we hosted in 2014. This increase in attendance is a testament to the need of an event of this nature that gives attendees the chance to focus on networking and sharing best practices with industry peers and experts."

Throughout the three-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in thought-provoking discussions on topics such as strategies, workflows and innovative approaches to asset management as well as innovative tools, techniques and solutions.

In addition to the impressive roster of speakers, a number of prominent sponsors have signed on to participate at this year’s event, including Pragma (diamond sponsor) and a leading provider of physical asset management services and products.

The SAAMA conference is also the only event of its kind that offers delegates the opportunity to write the Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional  (CMRP), SCPP (ISO 55000) and CAMA exams during the duration of the conference. Delegates will further receive continuous development points (CPD) for attending the full conference.
"We are delighted to have received interest once again, from a wide variety of both local and international organisations that will be sending representatives to share insights at this year's event. These include mining, manufacturing, public sector (municipalities, energy, water, and infrastructure) as well retail and healthcare facilities," adds Coetzee.

"With the current and ongoing challenges that the energy and water industries are facing we hope to bring new solutions developed by some of the most innovative companies and individuals, to the table. Infrastructure assets and the effective and efficient management thereof, is of the most critical success factors that can play a major role in improving service delivery in the public sector - surely an issue that will stimulate much discussion at this year's event.

"An interactive platform, where delegates can debate the exciting opportunities as well as daunting (for some) challenges associated with mobile technology in asset management, will also be one of the highlights."

"Our aim is to inspire asset management professionals to take on these challenges head on, to share knowledge, to think out of the box, to analyse and debate the integration of asset management into other business processes and to learn from others who have experienced similar challenges."

"It is only through a collaborated effort, that we will overcome most challenges and we believe we have the talent, skill and capabilities, right here in South Africa, to develop practical solutions. The SAAMA conference is an ideal platform from where to generate interest, ideas, innovations and new technologies, says Coetzee.
