Nedbank Capital appoints energy, metals unit head

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Banking group Nedbank Capital’s commodity finance division has announced the appointment of Anne-Marie Woolley as the new energy and metals unit head, which forms part of its global commodity finance division.

London-based Woolley, who was formerly Standard Bank’s structured trade and commodity finance in Africa head, provided a key component in the revised trade structure, with three new divisions aligned across agricommodities, energy and metals and bank risk.

She would report to Nedbank Capital global commodity finance head Sekete Mokgehle.

“The decision was taken to restructure the division to create a better balance between the international and African businesses,” he explained.

The agricommodities business would remain the remit of former structured trade and commodity finance Africa head Zhann Meyer, who would be supported by principals Wayne Khoury and Donald Stewart, associates Dean Goodwin and Linda Mothibe and agronomist Jacob Pistorius.

Mokgehle said the bank risk stream would also be restructured to incorporate a larger team with the international and South African business.

Woolley added that her vision was to diversify the portfolio, which was currently predominantly international trader-oriented, albeit with an African flavour, and to develop trade finance structuring and execution skills across the team members.

“Key to our success will be the forging of close ties and greater joint transactions with Ecobank,” she commented.
