Huge Group lifts H1 earnings, profit

AltX-listed Huge Group has recorded earnings per share (EPS) and headline earnings per share (HEPS) of 12.4c and 9.4c, respectively, in the six months ended August 31.

This was compared with EPS and HEPS of 9.2c in the six months ended August 2014.

Net profit rose to R12.58-million for the six months under review, compared with R7.4-million the year before, while operating profit increased to R14-million, from R8.8-million in the prior comparable period.

Revenue rose to R106.9-million in the year under review, compared with the R99-million in the prior comparable period.

Its biggest subsidiary and principal revenue generator Huge Telecoms continued to grow its distribution capabilities during the half-year, while monthly sales of telephone lines averaged about 800 during the first half of current financial year, down from 1 100 in the prior comparable period.

Monthly churn of telephone lines averaged about 300 during the first half, up from 250 in the comparative period, while billed minutes were 13% higher.

Huge Telecoms also reported average revenue per fixed-line user of just over R600, as well as an average selling price for mobile minutes of 84c a minute.

The average selling price for a fixed-line minute was 36c a minute.
