From Creamer Media in Johannesburg, this is the Real Economy Report.

Sashnee Moodley:

Polymer supplier VescoPlastics, which produces a proprietary brand of Vesconite of bushings and wear plates that operate in various conditions, is now expanding into providing replacement parts for forklifts and forklift companies. Journalist Simone Liedtke gives us more insight.

Simone Liedtke:

Said to be one of the company’s most successful applications, the side-shift wear pad, Vesconite engineering and sales manager Calvin Mpofu tells us a bit more about the campaign, which is aimed to offer a more cost-effective option, while extending the life of a product.

Vesconite engineering and sales manager Calvin Mpofu:

Simone Liedtke:

Considering that this is a new industry that the company is moving into, the forklift champion, as some like to call him, explains what gave way to wanting to go down this route for Vesconite.

Vesconite engineering and sales manager Calvin Mpofu:

Simone Liedtke:

Vesconite’s replacement parts are made from a specialised hard-wearing thermpolymer designed for challenging operating conditions, which give up to 10 times the life of bronze of nylon bushings, for example. Through combining internal lubrication, a low friction coefficient and low wear rates, Vesconite polymers don’t require external lubrication, even where conditions are wet and dirty.

Mpofu gives us a quick side-by-side comparison on two of the company’s products.
