Transportation service provider Mammoet has been contracted to provide heavy lifting and transport solutions for a new multibillion-dollar oil refinery in Nigeria.

In January, Mammoet and Nigerian multinational industrial conglomerate Dangote Group signed the contract for the project in Lagos. The refinery is being built by Dangote Group and it has a capacity of 650 000 bbl/d and will boost economic growth in Nigeria and generate thousands of jobs.

The refinery is scheduled to come on stream next year and will increase the country’s oil exports and reduce its reliance on imports of petroleum products.

Under the contract, Mammoet will be transporting, lifting and installing all oversized cargo for the refinery.

Mammoet West Africa GM Harm Tiddens says the company is “delighted” to work with its Nigerian partner Northridge Engineering on one of the most significant projects that will help the economies of Nigeria and the West Africa region.

“We feel honoured to have been entrusted by Dangote Group with the heavy lifting and transport requirements for this project. We look forward to working with them to contribute to a safe and efficient project,” Tiddens concludes.
