Obtaining water in rural and domestic environments from boreholes, ponds and dams is now easier with technical solutions provider BMG’s Motoline P19000-S series of solar inverters for photovoltaic (PV) water pumps.

The solar inverters are used to power pumps for agricultural irrigation and water feed systems in rural areas.

“All solar-powered systems require a solar inverter to convert direct current (dc) generated by solar panels or other alternative sources into alternating current (ac) for use in industrial, commercial and residential applications,” BMG’s electromechanical division electronics sales manager Mick Baugh explains.

The Motoline series is suitable for use in rural areas as the pumps are easy to install and user friendly, with easy to learn technology. “We do offer training on the Motoline inverters which are specifically designed to be a ‘plug-and-play’ offering.”

BMG’s Motoline P19000-S solar inverters for PV water pumps have integrated maximum power point tracking algorithms, which support accurate tracking of the PV output to ensure the best possible power output is achieved.

Other high-performance features of these solar inverters include dry-run protection, tank water level control and a dual ac and dc supply mode. This series supports ac input connectivity, in addition to the dc input from a PV system, allowing the ac input to feed the drive when the PV supply is limited. Baugh adds that “a clear light-emitting diode (LED) display indicates the real-time situation and system parameters and the RS485 remote control system enhances the flexibility of the system”.

The inverters have a built-in logic control, as well as a multi-language organic LED screen, which can display three parameter groups simultaneously. The optimised ventilation design allows for intelligent temperature control, and the outer casing is covered by a conformal coating to help protect against aggressive environments.

The inverters – which have a power capacity range of between 0.4 kW and 550 kW – have built-in protection and diagnostic mechanisms to provide full electronic protection for the motor and pump system, minimising maintenance requirements and extending the service life of the system.

BMG has been marketing the Motoline series in the South African market since 2014 but the product has been available globally for more than ten years.
