Rosatom, African Young Generation in Nuclear ink MoU
International nuclear firm Rosatom and the newly established nonprofit organisation African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the further development of awareness of opportunities for youth in the nuclear industry.
AYGN was established earlier this year to provide a platform for African youth in the nuclear or related fields to become more conversant about nuclear and open the opportunities for youth across the continent.
The MoU is AYGN’s first action as it moves to engage several other stakeholders to advance its ambitions.
Initiating the “first move” in how to best collaborate moving forward, Rosatom regional VP for sub-Saharan Africa Viktor Polikarpov said the Russian powerhouse attached great importance to working with youth in the nuclear industry, particularly in Africa.
“Nuclear is the future in Africa,” he said, pointing out that the youth could further Rosatom’s ambitions and proposed projects to power up Africa.
The MoU aims to grow public awareness, promote further knowledge in nuclear, exchange experience, open educational opportunities and promote international conferences and exhibitions.
