Property industry bodies the South African Property Owners Association (Sapoa) and the Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at fostering improved policy and communication between the private property sector and government.

The organisations said in a statement on Wednesday that the agreement would aim to drive improved collaboration between the two parties and foster a common vision and approach between the public and private sector regarding economic policy and development issues in the property industry.

These efforts would be specifically focused on the commercial property sector, which currently faced challenges as a result of national, provincial and local government policies and services described by Sapoa as “detrimental”.

Lobbying and addressing government about existing and proposed policies, legislation and operational issues that were considered prejudicial to the parties would be a key product of this alliance.

Sapoa is the representative body of the commercial and industrial property industries in South Africa, while KLCBT is a recognised business representative organisation in the Lowveld, Mpumalanga.
