ELB Engineering Services (Pty) Ltd (ELB) is pleased to announce its involvement in the assembling of two ship loaders for Transnet Port Terminals, after initially being awarded the contract to supply, install and commission these two mobile ship loaders at Transnet Port Terminals’ (TPT) Saldanha Multi-Purpose Terminal – a strategic node of the movement of bulk minerals in South Africa.

ELB established site during July 2019 at Transnet Port Terminals’ (TPT) Saldanha MPT, to assemble two mobile ship loaders supplied in conjunction with ELB’s technical partner Telestack of Ireland. The ship loader with a telescopic boom will be used in combination with the double-sided mobile truck unloading system.

Both these systems are independently mobile allowing for quick movement on and off the quay, allowing TPT the mobility they require for positioning the machines.

To meet the Social Development requirement on the project, ELB have partnered with a local engineering company Westarcor Engineering who will be supplying all the required equipment and manpower for the assembly of the machines. Cascade, ELB’s in-house logistics company, took care of all aspects of the transport of the containers from Ireland to Saldanha Port.

The first ship unloader arrived on site in 11 containers. These containers were de-stuffed and all equipment arranged in the laydown area. The assembly started mid-July 2019 under the guidance of a Telestack engineer. Thanks to the hard work of all concerned, the ship loaders will be complete and ready for hot commissioning by the end of the year.

ELB has been privileged to have worked with TPT over the last 10 years and we look forward to an exciting, mutually beneficial, long lasting alliance with TPT.

ELB’s technical partner Telestack of Ireland has also been involved as leaders in the design and supply of mobile materials handling equipment including ship loaders, ship unloaders, bulk reception feeders, rail loading/unloading solutions, radial telescopic stackers, mobile hopper feeders, track mounted conveyors and reclaim hoppers.

ELB Engineering Services is an internationally recognised technology driven holistic solutions provider to the mining, power, port, construction and industrial sectors. This is achieved through ELB generated innovation, supply of equipment and technology from our world class partners, in-house developed expertise and integration of the services and products from the ELB Group of companies.
