At least 100 people have been injured after two trains collided between the Mobeni and Havenside areas of KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday afternoon, Marshall Security said.

The private security company said it was unclear what had caused the accident.

"Prasa officials are on the scene. So far around 100 patients are... being treated by various emergency services. Please avoid this area and allow additional responding emergency units through," said a statement.
