Mobility company Michelin in South Africa has appointed Amaury Vadon as its new sub-Saharan Africa MD, effective April 1.

Originally from France, Vadon brings considerable experience and a proven record in sales, operations and management garnered over his 12-year tenure at Michelin, the company says in a statement.

Vadon holds a master’s degree from EDHEC Business School and has served in various capacities within Michelin.

His extensive background in sales, coupled with his strategic vision, makes him an ideal candidate to lead Michelin sub-Saharan Africa into its next phase of growth and development, the company highlights.

Based in the Sandton, Johannesburg office, Vadon will oversee all operations in the region.

Upon his appointment, Vadon expressed his commitment to furthering Michelin’s contribution to the economic development and growth of African countries, in line with the company’s core business pillars of planet, profit and people.

“Michelin’s presence in Africa dates back to the 1950s, and since officially trading at our base office in Johannesburg in the 1990s, our mission to be a highly committed partner in the economic growth of the African continent has never changed,” Vadon says.

“Our products and services play a crucial role in building infrastructure, facilitating trade, and promoting safe mobility across the world. Additionally, our commitment to sustainability positions us to accompany African countries in adopting new mobility solutions, such as electric vehicles.

“We are keen to ensure that our brand resonates truly with African consumers by putting Michelin's values into practice, encouraging diversity and inclusion, and bridging cultural divides,” he adds.
